Blind Pilot - Half Moon
the OTH finale does as wonderful a job as ever with a beautiful soundtrack! i like this one lots (especially the hold-high-have-faith-your-reasons bit)
Passenger - The Last Unicorn
i’ve just gotten back from seeing this wonderful chap at the Brook in Southampton, accompanied by Stu Larsen and Dlugokecki, both of whom were also awesome and lovely!
the song - because its title says it all :D unicorns = instant awesome.
i’ll pop a proper rambling of the gig up tomorrow, but a fabulous time was had by all - definitely a happy-soul-evening!
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
so today, in the sunshine, i have finished! with what marks exactly remains to be seen, but for now and for this afternoon i shall allow myself to wallow in the freedom, and maybe the sunshine - if i head down to explore the river or the secret garden that has been created on campus. (maybe after i’ve finished watching a film about moving to Italy, it’s gorgeous and wonderful - they went to Assisi! and Cortona, and Firenze with the candy cane cathedral).
ahhhh………if there’s ever an incentive to work hard then being able to save up for a return trip is definitely one.
pretty tunes are playing and it’s just really, really nice.
and if you’re in the middle of lots of hard revision or exams, GOOD LUCK! plod on and it will all be worth it when you can sit back and feel alright about doing what you want to do.
:)
watch out tumblebees! Gabrielle Aplin is making a name for herself with her gorgeous voice! the song on this promo vid is Panic Cord - i’ma ‘ssuming she’s releasing it soon, hopefully, because it’s lovely! sad, but lovely.
oops, just checked itunes. it’s out already! on her Never Fade EP. lovely bubbles.
Course-mate Music Appreciation Club!
so last week we had my flatmate, Richard Mandell playing his song 70 or Dead. this week i present to you mr Daniel Tovey! fellow student and writer/performer of lovely lyrics and tunes, the one above is his Things Don’t Have to be so Grey. Dan’s just released a 6 track EP called Little Love, which can be found and downloaded here. :)
ps. if you’re a Southamptoner, Dan is playing a gig with some other friends of mine, Red Havana, at the Talking Heads on Weds 30th.
please share the love!
Passenger - Caravan
My creativity has been manifesting itself through these, lately.
this is wonderful! and the first guy - Stu Larsen - turns out he’s coming to my city on THURSDAY! sneaky £7 post-deadline acoustical loveliness trip? possibly yes :D
"oh it’s your laptop. i thought it was some kind of Divine Intervention."
(lovely) flatmate
Angus & Julia Stone cover of You’re The One That I Want
i heard this a few weeks ago and it popped up again today on my news feed - lovely pretty take on the original! Julia’s voice is so calming.
I gave my first ever commencement speech to the graduating class of 2012 at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
I think I told them everything important that I knew about going out into the world and being an artist, so I may never need to give another one.
Lisa Mitchell has been helping me retain my sanity midst all these deadlines and word counts of late - this cover of The Ship Song is beautiful and sweet and as delicate as ever. ahh the sea, i would like very much to be beside the seaside soon! anyway, this is a Nick Cave cover and will make your soul feel nice :)
